Who We Are
Women Environs Zambia (WEZ) is a grassroots-driven organization committed to empowering women and communities to lead sustainable environmental solutions.
We work with rural women, young people, and local leaders to strengthen climate resilience, restore degraded ecosystems, and promote sustainable livelihoods through inclusive and community-led approaches.
Our work is rooted in the belief that environmental sustainability and gender justice are inseparable.
-
Why Our Work Matters
Across Zambia, rural communities are facing increasing environmental pressures driven by climate change, deforestation, and unsustainable land use practices.
Women who are often primary caregivers, food producers, and natural resource managers are disproportionately affected, yet remain underrepresented in decision-making spaces.
Without targeted support, these challenges continue to deepen poverty, food insecurity, and ecological degradation.
-
Our Approach
We use an integrated, community-centered approach that combines environmental restoration, capacity building, and advocacy:
• Agroecological and Seed Saving practices
• Women-led natural resource management
• Community training and knowledge sharing
• Youth engagement and leadership development
• Policy advocacy for environmental and gender justiceWe prioritize locally driven solutions that are sustainable, scalable, and rooted in indigenous knowledge systems.
What We Do
We Care
For the environment by practising and encouraging sustainable environmental practices.
We Promote
The sustainable methods of agroecology and indigenous seed preservation to help improve livelihoods.
We Advocate
